Sandy’s Story

On the evening of October 3, 2020 Sandy suffered a ventricular fibrillation causing him to lose consciousness. He collapsed, had a weak pulse, and shallow breathing. 

Being surrounded by medical personal at the event he was attending, he received CPR almost immediately, followed shortly by the use of an AED and Oxygen. 

Roughly 30 minutes later, he was transported to the Big Fork Hospital Emergency Department via ambulance where he was assessed and stabilized. While there he was able to identify who he was, who Ellen was, and got out several I love you’s before he was sedated and intubated, as a precaution. 

Sandy was then life-flighted to St Luke’s Hospital in Duluth and was received in the ICU where his condition was listed as “critical, but stable.” 

As part of the assessment at St. Luke’s it was determined that sandy had suffered several broken ribs and a punctured lung as a result of the CPR. All vital signs were within normal ranges, with the exception of blood pressure, which was then treated to get it up into a normal range. 

As of October 5, he is in an induced coma awaiting further testing to determine the initial cause and to determine the next steps in the coming day(s). We will do our best to keep this page updated as new information becomes available in the 'Journal' section.

Sandy is home. The broken ribs are very uncomfortable and he is having a tough time sleeping, but otherwise doing okay. 

I probably will not be posting anything more. Thanks for all the good wishes.
