Sandy’s Story

Site created on May 9, 2018

Good afternoon family and friends. I, Heather, have started this website on behalf of my mom Sandy to let everyone know about what has been going on with her.  About a month ago Mom was diagnosed with stage2 T3 rectal cancer.  Her treatments are extensive. Last Monday May 7th Mom started her 6 week round of radiation along side of taking Xeloda (an oral chemo med) in hopes to shrink the tumor. So far the only side effects she has experienced are some nausea and a mild headache after radiation.

Once Mom is done with the round of radiation/chemo she will have to wait 8-10 weeks then have surgery to remove the tumor. After she heals from surgery she will again have to undergo chemo.

I will continue to update here on how Mom is doing throughout her and our journey.

Journal entry by Sandra Trail

Sorry for the long wait but between working and visiting Mom I have been very busy. First couple days were difficult because of pain. They only had her on tramadol and Tylenol which was not covering her pain. This made it difficult for her to stand or even turn. However, now that they have her pain under control she is doing much better. Foley catheter came out today and is voiding fine but she still has 2 drains. She is up walking about 3-4 times a day and going longer distances every time. God is walking right with her!! I will post again in a couple of days!
