Journal entry by Stephanie Cline —
Today marks three weeks that Sandy has been out of the hospital. As many of you know, she is staying with me and my family while she builds her strength and gets her cognitive skills back enough to feel confident on her own.
We pretty much have a revolving door here all week long. Sandy has a nurse that comes out three times a week to watch her vitals and monitor a couple of blood levels (INR and Hemoglobin). The physical therapist is her three days a week, Occupational therapy is here twice a week and Speech therapy comes ones a week. Throw in a few doctors appointments and follow up testing a couple times a week and you can guess that she is pretty exhausted by the end of every day!
We saw the Neurologist yesterday for a 3 month follow up after her stroke. He is pleased with the progress that she is making and expects that in the next 3 to 6 months, with continued therapy, her speech, strength and thought processes should be getting close to her normal. Currently, word finding, critical thinking and thought organization seem to be the toughest for her. She is unstable on her feet and tires pretty quickly but she continues to get stronger every day.
As we all know, Sandy is a strong willed woman and she is determined to get her life back. With continued therapy and prayers, I have no doubt that she will get there!
Thanks for your continued love and support!
