Journal entry by Dennis “Mickey” Spiker —
Thank you all for taking on the burden of following our ordeal with empathy and grace. It’s easy to turn off when one has to face the frailties of being human. These nights I’m doing more tossing and turning than usual. As many of you know, last April I had a right lung lobectomy of the lower lobe to excise cancerous nodules. Well, it’s back with a vengeance and scattered throughout both lung tissues. Oodles of tiny ones! Considered stage 4. On July 21 I meet with oncology & hematology to discuss the possibility of immunotherapy. These days breathing is labored and I am probably going to need oxygen. Most unfortunately this has impacted my being able to be an effective caregiver for Sandra, and I’ve had to expand our staff to nearly 24 hours. Hopefully this will not be for too long. I am not in pain (except when I cough uncontrollably). My emotions are on Toad’s Wild Ride. Give the Divine Feminine upstairs a call for us, folks. The evil one downstairs is knocking at my door. He can be gone!!!! Love you all ❤️🙏
