Sandi’s Story

Site created on September 27, 2023

Hello everyoneand welcome to Sandi's Squad.

Sandi received a positive biopsy for breast cancer just weeks before she (finally!!) retired. She has been diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (IDC). Since this is one of the most common types of breast cancer, her doctors are incredibly knowledgeable and have a great plan to knock the cancer out.
Sandi started chemo on Sept. 20th, 2023, and will continue for 12-16 weeks. After that, she will have a much deserved month off and then will meet with her surgeon to discuss her best options and then onto radiation. Sandi has decided to reject cancer because... well, it simply doesn't belong there!
We will update you throughout Sandi's journey as she shows cancer whose boss!
Please post comments and any wonderful words of encouragement you may have!

Journal entry by Sandi Cary

Saw the oncologist today! She said that I’m right on track with my healing. The fatigue and depression I feel fairly normal and will go away. I have a CAT scan and a bone scan tomorrow just to make sure everything is copacetic. My hair is growing back and it looks like it might be curly! so thankful for all the prayers and love that we’ve been given during this adventure.
Peace always, Sandi
