Sam’s Story

Site created on July 17, 2021

Hi Friends, welcome to our Caring Bridge site!

Here you will be able to keep up with  Sam's battle with cancer.

On July 8th Sam  was diagnosed with colorectal cancer, and while it's a scary diagnosis, we are very confident that Sam will beat this!
While this not the news that any 28 year old is expecting to hear, we are staying positive and taking it one day at a time. We know that there will be some fantastic days and some tough days. We appreciate all the support that our friends and family have shown so far and will continue to show through this battle.

Additionally, one of the main symptoms that Sam experienced in the lead up to this diagnosis was bright red blood in his stool. While this symptom does not typically mean cancer, we advocate that if you or a loved one experiences this symptom, you go to your doctor immediately. We have heard numerous stories of people experiencing this symptom and either ignoring it or waiting too long to visit their doctor.

Thank you for all of your support. We appreciate all of the love you have shared with us. Your love and support will help us get through this tough battle.

We love you all.

Best,
Sam

Journal entry by Susan Sabin

This is Susan, Sam's Mom.  I am writing today to make you aware that Sam's treatment has not been successful.  Hospice is supporting Sam, Mac and our family as we work to make his final days comfortable.

We would ask that you not reach out to Mac at this time.  Rather, if you have a pictures, videos or fond memories of Sam that you would like for us to share with him, please send to Ellie Bunz ellie.bunz@gmail.com.

We appreciate the support you all have provided through this site.  I will end this as Sam would . . . .

Make sure to tell your friends and family that you love them.

Patients and caregivers love hearing from you; add a comment to show your support.
