Samantha’s Story

Site created on February 10, 2018

Hi, everyone! If you're on this page, then you probably are looking for updates on my medical status. For those who don't know, I'm Sam and I was just diagnosed with ovarian cancer. It's still early in the diagnosis, but I thought it would be easier to post updates here in one place.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Samantha Thompson

I had my final follow-up doctor's appointment today and received my final CT scan and blood test results.

The CT scan results for my neck and abdomen were all good news. The CA 125 cancer marker blood test has me at 11 U/mL. The normal range is <35 U/mL and my previous results were 136 U/mL.

I still have follow-up blood tests and doctor appointments every three months for a few years yet. But it's a little weird thinking that I had cancer and now am a "cancer survivor" within the span of a few months.

Imagine all the ways I can use "As a cancer survivor..." in arguments/guilt trips now. The "gift" that keeps on giving.
