Ryan’s Story

Site created on July 28, 2021

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Ryan incurred a brain injury while alone at his apartment in West Chester, PA. We are still piecing together exactly what happened but we believe it to be solely accidental and a result of a migraine treatment that caused dizziness.  As a result he fell and hit his head. Thankfully, a wellness check found Ryan in his apartment and he was immediately taken to Chester County Hospital.  He was air lifted to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center on July 23, 2021.  There, he was rushed into surgery to relieve pressure on his brain.

Late at night on July 26, 2021, his doctors, yet again, found bleeding on his brain in another area that required a second emergency surgery. The neurosurgical team have since left off part of his skull while they try and determine the best course of action. He will need yet another surgery in the near future to return the skull bone to its original position.   We are hopeful that the road to recovery could then begin.

Ryan has continued to amaze all of us and his doctors as well!  Last Friday he returned to his job full time and is living back in his apartment.

We are so thankful for his strength through all the challenges he faced. We are thankful for the skill of everyone who worked so hard to find a treatment that would work.  Thankful for the love and care of all of you that have prayed and reached out to help Ryan and our family.

We give God the glory for all of this.
