Ryan’s Story

Site created on December 23, 2021

We are overwhelmed with the outpouring of support for Ryan. In an effort to keep everyone updated at once we have decided to create a Caring Bridge site.

On December 10th Ryan was diagnosed with COVID-19. He was admitted to Froedtert on December 15th given his difficulty breathing. Despite doing all that he could, he was put on a ventilator on December 20th.  He was approved as a candidate and put on the ECMO machine on December 28th so that his lungs could heal.

We have been told that it will be a marathon, not a sprint. We ask for continued prayers for Ryan.

1 year….

It’s been fast yet so very slow. It’s a day that changed our lives forever. We’ve learned to live with Ryan as our angel. 2022 was one of the hardest years of our lives with losing Ryan, Aunt Laurie and Grandma. We’ve said numerous times over the year that we wouldn’t have made it without our faith, family and friends.

Yes, today is hard as we remember Ryan’s passing but to be honest, sometimes a regular Tuesday is just as bad. Grief is really hard and grace is real. We are all working on giving ourselves grace as we work through the loss while recognizing that everyone handles things differently and that’s ok.

Thank you for checking in throughout the year. Thank you for continuing to share memories of Ryan as we love to talk about Ryan since we typically end up laughing. Thank you for helping to take care of all that needed to be done over the last year. Thank you for the advice. Thank you for doing things with us and keeping us busy. Thank you for sitting with us when we have a bad day. Thank you for the funny texts. Thank you for caring.

Oh we miss his shenanigans, we miss his funny random texts, we miss his advice, we miss his protectiveness, we miss his laugh and so much more.

I believe Ryan is proud of us as we work to do things how he would have done them. We’ll work in 2023 to continue to make him proud and honor his memory. We will continue the impact Ryan made through the Ryan Jeske Family Foundation.

I’ll leave you with this… Make the call. Go visit. Help others. Make memories. Tell those you love that you love them.

Patients and caregivers love hearing from you; add a comment to show your support.
