Journal entry by Ruth Cohen

Hi Friends!

I'm sorry for such a long delay in writing.  It turns out that I had a lot to do to get work squared away, wedding stuff managed, as well as a whole heck of a lot doctor's appointments.

But now, works managed as much as possible!  And have I said how amazing working for the URJ is?  How kind, loving and supportive the staff - from the top down, are?  You might find me gushing a lot about this - can't be helped.  It is the G-d's honest truth!

Wedding, well, no matter how much we work on, I am always feeling behind.  Even with having to do the horrible task of reducing our guest list.  But, we are moving in the right direction.  And it will be what it will be in the end.

Have you noticed I seem to have taken a happy pill?  I haven't, but I am trying to be positive.

Today, I visited my most amazing hair stylist, Tiffany to shave my hair off.  I really didn't have to do it today, but I have decided in the places where I can control things, I will.   It is really strange - my entire life I have had hair past my shoulders.  I can't recall a time where I didn't.  Now it is all gone.

Fun fact - your head gets really cold...and the base of my neck as well.  Hey Nathan (my bald baby brother), how in the heck do you keep your head and neck warm?  It's just...yuck!

Tomorrow I begin chemo.  It's going to be a long day, but hopefully my future chemo's won't be so long.  The goal is 4 - and only 4, so please, if collective thoughts have any power over this - just continue to think 4.  By the way, in our family, we have some number that are very special - the number 4 means "I love you more"

Wish me luck!  I hope to write a little more often than I have.

And, to quote from the Peter Pan ride at Disneyland...HERE WE GO.....
