Dearest Karen,

Here’s a silly story. On a shelf in my kitchen pantry right at eye level sits a canister of John McCann’s steel cut Irish oatmeal. I don’t remember the exact year I bought it, but there is a stamped sell-by date of August 29, 2015. I remember I purchased it at a Fresh Market grocery store because that was the closest to the cozy feel of a c1000 I could find back in the states. I bought that oatmeal not just for the oatmeal but for the quote on the canister. More so for whom the quote reminded me. The quote is the first 3 lines from the Irish blessing:

May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face...

I remember Rusty ending our special evenings together in Wassenaar reciting this blessing and feeling the warmth, emotion, and specialness of the moment. Please know I will always think of him when I see that canister of oatmeal sitting on the shelf and may...

the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Take good care. With much love to you and the boys,
Susan

Words are almost always inadequate and hollow at times like these. Just know that you are loved and Rusty is blessed to have you.

I was just thinking tonight about the time Rusty took me to my 1st Ravens game. They were still in Memorial Stadium. Afterwards we walked the streets of B'more smoking cigars. such a great memory!!

With you . He is still able to speak at times that is a blessing for today. If he has trouble swallowing, a Needleless syringe can help with meds right on his tongue. He will absorb it.
Praying for you all. God love you all.
