Journal entry by Katie Nalty —
Good Morning Everyone,
Rusty and his family enjoyed a great summer and start to the school year. For now, Rusty has decided to hold off on the ileostomy reversal surgery and is working on getting back into the swing of life. He has been having routine scans and bloodwork. Until this week, previous scans and blood work have been all clear 🙌🏻. On Monday Rusty had another CT scan and bloodwork. The blood test came back good; however, the scan showed a new 3mm node (about the size of an eraser) in his left lung. The doctors THINK it is reactive vs. cancerous but it is too early to tell. The node is currently too small to biopsy, so they plan to wait and do another scan on 12/11 to check see where it is.
Naturally any result other than an “all clear” can sprout disappointment and worry however, most lung nodules are benign (not cancerous) and that is exactly the report that we will be earnestly praying for! We also call you to pray for Rusty, Dru, Myers and Ridge over the next three months as they wait for the next scan. Please pray that their hearts and minds will be filled with hope and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding. Thankfully we were not created to take on life’s difficulties alone, and God’s power is made perfect in our weakness!
