Journal entry by Dawn Cone

Hi!!

He is HOME!!

I got to pick him up this morning. Today has been a day of learning new choreography and all that I am going to need to make sure he is safe in the house. Alex has been AMAZING in being there for his Grampa. I had to run errands this afternoon and I think I called a dozen times checking on Grampa411. The hardest part is going to make sure he doesn’t overdo it AND maintain his safety protocol with his movement restrictions.

I can’t tell you how wonderful it is to have him home!!

He got a good nap in today. Ate real fresh food!!

His ankles, calves and feet are swollen, but I got compression socks on him and we are going to work in opportunities to elevate those legs and talk to the doc to see if this is of concern. He is on a diuretic, so we will see.

Lots of learning will be happening this upcoming week. I will keep you all posted if we need help. These first few days will be meeting with home health and having him evaluated. Scheduling doctor appointments and understanding this next phase of his recovery. AND going through the pages and pages of discharge stuff.

Bogey was especially excited for Grampa’s return. Remy has spent the day on his bed. Basil has been meowing at him for food. Tomorrow Alex and Grampa are planning to go for a walk.

Thank you for your continued prayers, love and positive thoughts.

Much love,

Dawn
