Newest Update

Journal entry by Russell Anderson

Thank you all for your prayers, encouragement and cards, which have kept my spirits up for the past several months.

Last week I completed a CT scan that showed no improvement and additional Melanoma lesions/tumors. My oncologist has taken me off all medications and I am interviewing hospice providers. My only remaining hope is for a life sustaining miracle.

Kathy and I have had two planned trips canceled due to travel restrictions and are stuck at home per COVID-19 restrictions.  Due to swelling in my feet and legs I am unable to walk past the mailbox and can't play guitar or keyboard. One of the nicest things we have historically depended on for comfort is the physical contact we have with family and friends.  It is so hard to not have a simple hug or even a handshake right now!

On March 13th I had to have emergency eye surgery for a detached retina in my left eye.  The surgery was deemed a success per surgeon, and my eye tested 20/20 at the post op check, but the drops required 4 times a day leave my vision blurred making it difficult to read.

You can tell from this update that we are very sad and struggling.  We continue to have faith and seek comfort in our love for each other, our family and friends.

If you have time please text, call, face time, or skype (Anderson-Russell)) Getting something the old fashioned way in the mail is very nice too!
