Russell and Chelsey’s Story

Site created on September 14, 2021

Welcome to Russell and Chelsey's CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep all of our family, friends, and those that this is shared with updated in one place.

Chelsey was admitted to the High Risk Antepartum Unit on Monday, September 13th with preterm labor at 24 weeks, 6 days gestation. She had to leave her job early on Thursday, September 9th as a pediatric speech-language pathologist at Monkey Mouths, LLC from the Southlake clinic in between clients to be evaluated by her OB/GYN. She spent a long weekend on strict bedrest under the loving care of her husband, Russell, but his care alone wasn't enough to stop the contractions! Chelsey just spent a week in the hospital and received as much medical care as they could provide at this time of her pregnancy and was discharged on Friday, September 17th on strict bedrest and orders to return at a moment's notice.

We are all unsure how long Chelsey will be in/out of the hospital, how long she will stay pregnant, and what exactly their needs will be as the coming months transpire, but you will be able to see all our latest updates and ways to help here.

For now, our concerns most revolve around Chelsey's significantly decreased income since she will be on bedrest for the remainder of the pregnancy and potentially beyond. It all depends on when Allie arrives and the level of care she will need at that time. Russell and Chelsey have saved money for medical expenses and were eagerly awaiting Allie's arrival in December... we're not quite sure what this Fall will bring us, though!

Many of you have asked how you can support Russell and Chelsey during this time as well as asked for Allie's baby registry. We are humbled by all of your offers and requests to serve and our family couldn't be more grateful. Along with donating to the GoFundMe, below they have identified some areas that would be a blessing to them as well as linked Allie's Baby Registry through this site. Furthermore, details TBA for a (now) virtual shower sometime this Fall!

Tangible Needs:
1. PLEASE be in prayer for our "Allie Cat," (lovingly named by her Aunt Brittany - that's me!) that she continues to develop inside Momma and gets further into her gestational development before making her debut. Feel free to share this website link with anyone who will be a Prayer Warrior for us!
2. Meals or Gift Cards for meals - see linked Meal Train under "Ways to Help."
3. Bedrest Ideas for Chelsey - book lists, movie lists, mental activities, creative Ideas
4. Belle's grooming needs (nails weekly and a bath each month) - Russell and Chelsey did this themselves, but it took both of them
5. House Cleaning - they have priced out a service that can do this and it would be $125 for a deep clean service

Please check out the NEW Meal Train for the Garrett family as they transition home for the first time in 16+ long weeks! If you are able, please consider blessing them with some "easy-button food" as they learn to adjust to being a family of three (plus a very large Big Sister canine.)
