Journal entry by Becky Schmelzer

Good day everyone! Russ is doing SO well!! He went for a nice walk yesterday, he's feeling a lot sturdier on his feet! He also really wanted a change of scenery so I took him for a ride to Augusta..he never left the car but he did get to enjoy a decaf Starbucks coffee and a yogurt parfait from McDonalds. I made it clear that a parfait and a salad was all he would ever be allowed to eat from McDonalds..ever again 😏!! His home health nurse came this morning and she's been his nurse for each visit and she told Russ that he was the only cardiac patient she's ever treated that has healed as quickly as Russ has! Ironically , this has been pretty healthy for his ego!! 😂 He has an appointment with his primary this afternoon, his surgeon on the 14th and cardiac PA on the 27th with OT, PT in between so he's pretty "busy" getting well. He still gets tired but I'm certain he will be back to himself sooner rather than later. They are still watching his Afib levels and treating that with meds but that's pretty minor considering. Thanks so much for the continued well wishes, prayers and cards, he's loved reading each one! 💖
