Roxanne’s Story

Site created on May 10, 2021

Welcome to Roxanne's  Caring Bridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.
Roxanne rented an electric scooter on Thursday, May 6th.  The scooter she was driving accelerated faster than anticipated and jumped in the air throwing Roxanne from the vehicle before crashing down on top of her.
She has sustained multiple injures to all of her limbs.  She has a broken leg, foot, wrist and shoulder all of which required surgery.  They performed all operations  simultaneously and she is now recovering from her surgeries and injuries at New York Presbyterian Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn.
She is waiting for a consult as to what is next for her recovery.   She has very limited mobility and no ability to bear any weight on her injuries.
It is likely that she will have a lengthy recovery ahead of her.
We are not doing any fundraising until we know what her needs will be.
She is doing okay in spirits and is able to answer her phone.
We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Journal entry by Roxanne Beaudo

I was told by my surgeon that I need not to put any weight on any of my limbs for the next four weeks and that I might not regain full use of my left hand. So.....a month before I can walk.  My friends and family are keeping me laughing with suggestions for tattoos to cover my scars. No worms or centipedes, thank you very much.
