Rotha’s Story

Site created on March 9, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.  For the past 4 weeks moma has been complaining of back pain, at first I treated her for the flu like everyone else.  After 2 trips to urgent care antibiotics and steroids, she landed in the the emergency room  for severe back pain Wednesday 03/07/2018.  She had a huge bruise on her back from falling in the middle of the night so the ER doctor ordered a chest xray.  There was a mass found on her lung.  At that time the doctor called me and asked if she wanted me to have her admitted overnight for more testing, or send her home, of course my answer was yes keep her and I will be there in a few.  She and I spent the next 2 nights in the hospital.  We seen multiple doctors, multiple tests, some tears and some laughs.  As of now she has been diagnosed with lung cancer.  We were finally able to bring her  home on Friday 03/09/2018.  She was much better and happy once she got home and had all 4 of her grandbrats for supper.
The plan now is more testing on Tuesday 03/13/2018 and start aggressive treatment on Wednesday 03/14/2018.  I am grateful she has Dale who is willing to care for her and love her and all of us. (even me)  I am also thankful she has Pam Bolton that she can cry with and laugh with since they were young.  They say if you have been friends longer than 7 years then your family!!!  Which brings me to my best friend who worked all night and came straight to the hospital and was my nurse brain when I was trying to be a daughter.  Not to mention the close friends, family and coworkers of mine who sent text, calls and offered to bring us anything we asked for.
Paige, Molly or myself will update this site as often as we can.  Please understand we have received a lot of information in a few short days and we are processing everything as a family.  Please understand if you call or text and we don't respond is is not that we are ignoring anyone, we are simply trying to understand everything.

Thank you to everyone who has prayed for my moma and our family. Yesterday she sat outside in the sunshine with all her family around her. This morning she lost her battle and now has 2 perfect lungs!
