Journal entry by Erin Southard

The End. Mom passed away Thursday evening around 7:30pm. Paulie came and sang Amazing Grace to her while the big kids were at soccer practice. Kids and Ritch came by to to give their love before going home to settle in for the night. I was planning to stay with mom through the night and weekend- of course she had other plans. :) I asked Mimi (the relief sitter) to help me change mom into fresh clothes- she said I don't know if that's going to work. I said, well we can at least cut the shirt she has on off and then slide a new one on. After some debate she handed me the scissors and said she wouldn't be responsible for cutting the shirt if mom opened her eyes. We got her all changed as Emily walked in (I had forgotten my phone charger). Before she left she went over to give mom a hug and tell her bye- such a sweet moment to watch.
Ms. Julie (the evening sitter) came back in from her break and started fussing in good humor at Mimi and I for messing with Mrs. Powell. I told her she needed a more "Rosie" type shirt than the one she had on. Julia was checking on mom and then headed to eat her dinner at the table while Mimi headed to her home for the night. I had made some coffee while Ms. Julia was fussing over mom... as I was sitting down talking to mom, I noticed she wasn't breathing. In true Rosie fashion she passed while we were all fussing over her and laughing at the situation and the coffee was brewing.
Fly high my sweet mama! I know you're up there doing the jitterbug with any good looking man you can find and telling your jokes to the angels.
