Journal entry by sherry hoelzl

First of all, I apologize for not posting these last couple of months. I was not always in a good place and my family and I have been through a lot and still are.
Number 9, 10 and 11 are done as of yesterday😊 One more to go, which will be on March 9th! I also have a CT at the end of February too.
I can’t believe I’m finally at the end of my cancer journey-as I call it. After having my exit appointment back in December, I didn’t realize my cancer journey will not be over for at least 5 more years. I had no idea what is to come until Deanna explained everything to me. For the first year, I will have a CT, blood work, and a visit with Dr. Siegel every 3 months. Then after that, if my blood work is good and my CTs are stable, then I’ll go to every 6 months for the remainder of the 4 years. I’m not sure what Dr. Garrity (Dermatologist) will have me do. I’ll be seeing her in March also.
Deanna went over all the scenarios in case my cancer comes back and where it comes back. I had no idea they keep your cancerous specimen for up to 10 years. I thought that was very interesting, but I won’t go into details-too much info.🤓
I’m not going lie and say that I’m not a bit scared of what is to come, but I feel my safety net of being on Opdivo to prevent any more cancer cells from developing will be gone. I hope and pray that “My Cocktail” killed any remaining cancer cells!!  I will continue to stay positive and not worry or have the “Gray Cloud” as cancer survivors call it, run my life. I will not live in fear as to what is to come.
I appreciate all of you and know you are all thinking and praying for me and my family. You have no idea how much that means.🥰
God bless and love you all💗
