Ron’s Story

Site created on February 24, 2018

Welcome!

As someone who has always been a very private person, especially with regard to illness, this is a bit of a stretch for me. But I have agreed to let Sara begin this page in order to  keep our families and friends up to date, as needed, with the state of my health. She will be the main communicator, though I may add things, as well.

Journal entry by Sara Lubbers

Before this day draws to ta close, I wanted to let you know that Ron took his last breath yesterday at 12:30 pm.  Paul, Emily, her husband Paul and myself were all able to be with Ron is his last hours.  As you know, these last months have been so hard for Ron and it really was his desire to pass without much struggle.  He was a young man with a healthy heart, so it took him longer than our Hospice doctors and nurses had anticipated back in November. None the less, we are grateful for his life and the love he shared with us. Ron was a loving father, husband, brother and friend. He made this world a richer place with his musicology scholarship, his keen photographic eye and his appreciation for natural beauty. Ron's absence leaves us with sad hearts; however we take comfort that his pain has ended.

A memorial service and celebration of Ron's life will be held Saturday March 16, 2019 at 11:00.  The service will be held at Christ Presbyterian Church in Madison.  A full obituary will be available early next week.

Shortly before Ron died, I placed my hand on his forehead and said this familiar blessing from scripture.

"The LORD bless you and keep you;
the LORD make his face shine upon you
and be gracious to you;
the LORD turn his face toward you
and give you peace."

Numbers 6:24-26

This was said through tears, but with a steadfast confidence that Ron has received God's peace.

We are all grateful for your faithful prayers, love, care, meals, and financial support.
