Ron’s Story

Site created on February 18, 2019

Ron has had significant health challenges over many years.  But with his strong determination, he has dealt with them to maintain a very active life.  The last 1 1/2 years have been particularly challenging for Ron, including multiple hospitalizations.  In the fall of 2017 he started losing some energy.  After years of treatment for LGL Leukemia, Ron's immune system had almost disappeared.  As a result, he contracted a serious fungal disease called cryptococcus.  In addition to the fungal disease, during the first months of 2018, he was hospitalized separate times with Influenza A, Influenza B, and pneumonia. Revised LGL Leukemia treatments have somewhat improved his immune system, and resistance to these diseases.  But in the latter part of 2018, Ron's blood pressure started becoming erratic, and falls to extremely low levels.  That has resulted in periods of dizziness, lightheadedness, fatigue, and a couple falls.  When this low blood pressure condition became very extreme, Ron was hospitalized on Feb. 8th to determine what might be done to help it.   This story will update you on his progress with the current medical challenges.
Ron will appreciate any well-wishing notes on this site.  If anyone wants to send a card or note to Ron, his address in Arizona is: Lakeside Resort Casitas, 17031 East El Lago Blvd, Unit 1157, Fountain Hills, AZ 85268
