Ronda’s Story

Site created on May 20, 2018

Our dear friend and sister in Christ, Ronda Poole, went into the hospital on February 18th, 2018 because of severe pain in her abdomen.  She ended up have emergency abdominal surgery that night.  Since that date Ronda has had to stay in the hospital for many weeks to recover and have a second surgery.   She has been released several times to go home but after a week or so she has had to go back to the hospital for various reasons.  At one point, her incision became infected and she was sent back to the hospital for IV antibiotics.  During this visit to the hospital, Ronda's blood work showed she had the beginnings of an aggressive form of leukemia called Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).  Ronda was immediately  transferred to the University of Colorado Hospital in Denver, CO  to determine a course of treatment.  Ronda was in the hospital in Denver for a couple of weeks to determine what type of treatment would be best for her cancer.  She began chemotherapy up there but was eventually  transferred back to her home to continue as an outpatient.

Ronda's husband, Gary Poole,  has been with her day and night but no longer has any vacation time from work and must work to maintain their health insurance.  Their daughter, Christina, was able to come out from Tennessee for a couple of weeks and take care of her mom and dad and ready the house for Ronda to come home and receive outpatient Chemotherapy.    Ronda's sister, Teresa, has traveled  from California to help them both at home and in the hospital.  Their son, David, has been a huge help as well.   Ronda and Gary have many friends here in Colorado as well as around the world and we are reaching out to you all for your prayers!  Please pray for Ronda's complete healing!  Jesus Christ is Lord and He is Ronda's healer!  We are believing for her complete healing and for the many promises Jesus has given their family.   We have set up this site so Gary has a way to communicate with friends and family on Ronda's recovery and prayer requests and for you to have a way to communicate your love, encouragement and Words of life back to them.

This has been an overwhelming, whirlwind of months and it has been hard to send out updates individually through texts.  Ronda and Gary have a huge network of friends who love them and know how to pray!  We are trying to reach you!  They also have a growing financial need as they have incurred many medical bills that will not be covered by insurance.  We have started a Go Fund Me page connected to this site for anyone who would enjoy donating money towards this growing cost.  You are all loved, valuable and important to this battle.  Ronda and Gary need you.  This is just a brief synopsis of what the family has been enduring.  This has been an emotional time as they navigate these changes in their lives and the lives of those around them.  There have been times of isolation, sleepless nights and concern about finances and the future.  Please let us hold them up in prayer as Jesus says he will carry our burdens.  Let us be the hands and feet of Jesus to Ronda and Gary Poole.

Newest Update

Journal entry by gary poole

Hello friends, I am writing this update to ask for prayer for Ronda. I know that a lot of you are praying and have been praying for her and we are very grateful, Thank you!!  But Ronda is experiencing some symptoms of Graft verses Host Disease witch is some level of rejection. The good news is that the transplant has taken hold strongly and that greatly reduces any chances of leukemia ever returning!  But the cells have to adapt and communicate with her body as one. The symptoms she is having are flu-like and digestive issues, body aches and some mouth sores. I believe the Lord said that is a bump in the road. We need to get past this to thrive and not to get worse or linger on . She also needs encouragement and strength .   Please pray for the cell adaption and communication, for the transplant to as one with her body . And a quick end of these symptoms. Thank You all !!
