Journal entry by Rocio Terronez —
I am eager to share this overdue update with everyone. Last Friday, August 27th, Rolando was discharged from University Medical Center Hospital and transferred to the Rehabilitation Hospital of Southern New Mexico in Las Cruces.
At the rehab center, Rolando receives speech, occupational, and physical therapy daily. He is able to wear his own clothes, and out of that hospital gown. It is a much more relaxed environment where he can focus on building his body back up. It is an in-patient center, meaning he has nurses and doctors continuing to monitor him.
So far, he loves the place. They have great food, a gym, and even a pool for when he is ready! Initially, he was allowed to have 2 visitors a day from 8 to 8. However, with COVID restrictions, he is now able to have 1 visitor at a time and only from 8 am to 5 pm. I am happy he is in a place where recovery is the focus and the staff is warm and caring. It is clear he is giving it his all and the results are very promising!
With so much hope,
Rocio Terronez
