Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.  As COVID-19, social distancing, and travel limitations have made it difficult for Robin's friends and family to visit safely, we wanted to make this site to help connect virtually.  We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

You may know Robin was diagnosed with ocular melanoma about 10 years ago.  She received radiation treatment and was cancer-free until 2019.  In October of that year,  Robin was experiencing symptoms consistent with gallbladder  issues and subsequently went in for an MRI.  At that time she was unfortunately diagnosed with metastatic ocular melanoma with the metastasis occurring mostly in the liver and lungs.   

Ocular melanoma is a rare tumor with approximately 5 new cases per one million people per year.  Approximately 50% of ocular melanoma patients will develop metastatic disease with 15 years of original diagnosis.  The liver is the most common site of metastasis.  When liver metastasis occurs, you experience abdominal fullness, back pain, loss of appetite, and difficulty breathing among other things.
