Journal entry by Ryan Hochgrebe

Today marks 1 year of firsts for these 2 kiddos and myself after losing our dearly loved Robin. Around 3:20pm Robin took her last breath. It was devastating as many of you know the feeling. These past few days have come with heavy memories of Robin's suffering that stemmed from her diagnosis in 2018, treatments, surgery, bad news after bad news, brain mets, seizure, becoming incoherent, and eventually taking her last gasp. Yet while we grieve these things here on earth, in the presence of Jesus, one year ago, she took a deep breath of new life in His presence without pain. All her fears were gone, her suffering ceased, peace was complete in Christ, and she eagerly awaits the full restoration of her body when Jesus returns and brings about the resurrection of the dead.

While Robin and I were very different there is one thing that we shared that made everything work, Jesus. Isaiah 55:10-13 brought us together, hour long discussions about Jesus challenged and grew both of us. She made me a better pastor, she pushed me to seek Jesus more, she showed me what it looked like to be a person after God's heart. And one of my favorite things is the fact that we still get to worship Jesus together each and every day. She just has a better seat. The girls and I continue to love her and think about her daily. We like telling stories and remembering things like her laugh. We hold to those until we see her again.
