Roberto’s Story

Site created on July 7, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.
As you may or may not know, Bob has been battling Emphysema and COPD.  Drops in his O2 Sats keep him pretty sedentary. Upon first meeting Bob, 3 years ago, his pulmonologist didn’t think he would make it 6 months. The time we have now is nothing short of a miracle. Bob is convalescing at Post Acute Medical Hospital in Greenfield, WI. They will be starting PT and OT, 3-5 weekly, as he’s able to tolerate it, while maintaining O2 Sats >80.
As always, Bob maintains his positive attitude and great sense of humor. Thank you for caring.

Journal entry by Iris Peltier

On August 19th, 2018, Roberto Rivera, quietly passed away. He was surrounded by he's eldest daughter and granddaughter. He is no longer struggling to breathe. He is at peace. We held a celebration of life service, and are planning an ashes ceremony, to take place in Puerto Rico the weekend following his birthday, in April 2019. Special thanks to my cousin Marcelino Hernandez, for guiding me thru this process and heading the ceremony. Also, Jerry Schuch, for sharing bits of the long friendship he shared with my dad. Heading back to my reality and dreading the moment when I feel the need to share something with my dad and I just can't call him. This will be the longest football season, without my dad to debate with at halftime. Miss you, Dad. GO PACK GO!!!
