Journal entry by Kristie Munn —
Hi everyone! We have good news! Robert's wound is finally healing and we are so thankful. He has seen Dr. Rodas 3 times since my last update: on August 12, September 9, and last Monday, November 11. Rodas treated the wound with silver nitrate at the September visit and it started to scab over sometime in October. At this most recent appointment, Dr. Rodas cleared Robert from follow-up visits for his wound! He has a hernia, but unless that gives him problems he doesn't have to go back. He will still have follow up appointments for his aorta with the next being an ultra sound in January.
He has had a great fall semester at Hampden-Sydney and is finishing up classes in a few weeks and plans to walk at graduation in May! We are so proud of him as he has had such a long recovery. He has held his head high and kept moving forward throughout this difficult time. He is working out at the gym, taking walks, playing music, and having a lot of fun! He's excited about and looking forward to duck hunting season this year. And he has been able to spend a lot of time with Sophie who has been by his side throughout. She is a such a kind, strong person who has been his best medicine! Love ya Sophie!
He is planning to work for Ferguson and is waiting on details from them, but it sounds like he will be in the Hampton area for about a year and then on to Knoxville!
I will post an update after the visit about his aorta in January. We are all so thankful for all of you and wish you a warm, Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas. Hug your loved ones tight and thank you again for the love and prayers you have sent and continue to send our way.
