Journal entry by Carol McLeod

More of his journey.  Went to er like urologist said.  They immediately try to catheter him again, doctor has been called and receptionist says as soon as he gets done with patients for the day he will be there.   We'll 4 different people tried and 4 different types before they got it done.  Dr finally shows up and says he needs to scope him.  Don't know when he can do it, he needs to wait for a cancelation or fit him in.  Ok so what kind of dr is this....to top it off the day we went to his office prior to Er there was nobody in there..  we decided we are tired of messing around.  Called another urologist, got in right away.  He took out the catheter and told us that the equipment they were using on him was wrong for his condition and his size.  That is where the blood was coming from in the urine.   Stupid Dr and Er both.   The new doctor did a scope within a couple of days and a ultrasound, gave us the right size catheters to use every 4-5 hours and what a difference it has made.  Now it has been a few weeks since that er visit with drA we will call him.  Not one phone call to tell us when he will scope or when to change the Foley or get supplies.....nothing.  Then they call yesterday to let us know we have an appt for a followup to the Er.  I guess in the meantime we would just sit with the same Foley bag and all, nasty.  Never see DrA he is horrible.  Back to the good DrK.   Test show that it looks pretty clear,  I was there when he did the scope so I can see what is going on.  He showed me where his inside of his dingy was very irritated and raw in spots from the use of the wrong equipment and supplies.  I felt so sorry for him.  All he wants to do is pee normal.  So knowing that it is just the enlarged prostate holding it back,  they will be doing a treatment called Rezum mid Oct.  This is where they use steam to shrink the prostate.  So great news.  For now we continue on course, he has even peed a little on his own.  He loves company and phone calls.   Please keep him in your prayers.  We see the Oncologist next week...the one that said there is nothing else he can do, so not sure why.   Maybe he came up with something.  They say stuff comes out every day.
