Journal entry by Wendy Johnson —
Hi everyone 👋 Janet here. I would like to say thank you to everyone who has reached out in support of Robert and his new life. We are so proud of him!! He has been a real trooper in his journey to better health.... and now here we are.... a new life 💗
We also want to express our deepest sympathy and gratitude to the donor family for our second chance.
Here I sit exactly 24 hours after I last saw my husband with his old worn out lungs... in awe of what just happened. I have absolutely have everything GOOD to say about the process and the people we have been blessed to be around. The staff at St. Josephs hospital in downtown Phoenix has been Phenomenal- absolutely angels on earth. Robert has the best care!!
Today is a big day for Robert. He is being weaned off of some of the knock-out drugs, feeding tube removed, and ventilator removed. Once this happens He will be able to be awake for short periods of time. Awake is a relative term... he's not going to remember much of this in the long term..They do have him on some "fun" drugs.
I will do my best to update daily. The thought is he will be in the hospital for 2 weeks and then home with 24 hour care for a month. The work is about to get real... but so grateful for the chance . Thank you again friends, family, coworkers, donor, God, and the Angels at St. Josephs 🙏
A $25 donation to CaringBridge powers a site like Robert's for two weeks. Will you make a gift to help ensure that this site stays online for them and for you?
