Newest Update

Journal entry by Autumn Beckstein

It has been a while, but I wanted to update you on River’s health and ask for prayers once again. First, I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season. River was in good spirits and was deeply thankful for moments of relief. However, it seems his fragile body is under duress, yet again. The development of kidney stones is causing him to suffer terrible bouts of dysreflexia. The spikes and drops in blood pressure, not only cause severe body temperature fluctuations, but result in debilitating headaches that make talking, or even existing, almost unbearable. It seems he may need to undergo another surgery to remove them but due to the state of his health, enduring surgery often coincides with a burdensome recovery. During my personal prayer times for River, I often find myself at a loss for words, and in those times, I find it helpful to locate a song that inspires the faith to tackle the storm once again. I have attached Firm Foundation by Chandler Moore if you feel inclined to listen. Additionally, this scripture feels applicable Romans 8:18 (NLT) “Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later.” There is glory for us in the life to come as well as in the here and now; if Christ is in the suffering, then there is a promise attached it, and faith claims it. If any scriptures or words come to mind while praying for River, please feel free to jot a note in the comments below. I will be sure to pass them along.
