Journal entry by Leona Schinnert

April 1st, 2020 is the day our lives changed. My daughter Rita, was diagnosed with Stage IV Cholangiocarcinoma, a rare form of Bile Duct Cancer. You may think it was an April fools joke, we wish it had been, but it was not. The prognosis of this disease is grim, but we have a fighter! After finding out, Rita immediately began Chemotherapy treatment. Unfortunately, Chemotherapy has been very taxing on Rita; physically, emotionally, and mentally. As of now (May 8, 2020) Rita has gone through four Chemotherapy treatments, three referrals, and two trips to the Cancer Centers of America in Zion, Illinois. With two more Chemotherapy sessions, and another trip to Illinois in the future, she will be re-evaluated to see what the cancer is doing. With our heads held high and with god by our side, we will fight this with all we have. Thank you for all of your support in these troubling times, we will keep you all updated.
