Welcome everyone…with a heavy but hopeful heart I share with you that on October 6th, 2020, Ric went to be with the Lord…
The Celebration Service will be held October 29, 2020 at 2:00pm at the Colorado Community Church, 14000 E Jewell Ave, Aurora, CO 80012. Due to Covid-19 the Church will conform to current CDC guidelines. Families/Households may sit together and there will be six feet between guests in alternating rows. Masks are required but may be removed once seated. As a personal request since Ric and I were “confined” during these past eight months during Covid-19 and Home Hospice, I would love to have a huge attendance at Ric’s service. I need to see and be around people, all within the safety and comfort of each guest. Please seriously consider joining us, it would mean so much to me and our families. The Worship Center will safely hold 175 guests, so there is plenty of room to be comfortable.
Ric was born in Washington DC on September 21st, 1956, so he just celebrated his 64th birthday! He lived on both the east and west coasts during his 20’s and 30’s, but eventually settled in Colorado where he met me, Lana, and became a step-father to Jason and Ryan. We celebrated twenty-two years of marriage on August 22nd, 2020.
Ric loved fishing, hiking, and touring the mountains on his motorcycle. An avid Denver Bronco fan, and the occasional trip to watch the Colorado Rockies play baseball (who doesn’t love a warm ballpark hot dog?).
At the age of 38, after living a life of drugs, sex, and rock-n-roll Ric was led to attend church at Heritage Christian Center, where he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. His life was changed forever. Eventually, he was brought on staff at the Church working in the construction/building department. He loved taking care of God’s house. Ric was ordained as a Pastor/Minister with Coverings of Tapestry, Inc. Ministry and Heritage Christian Center. Ric and I started a church for the homeless called “Church In The Park” in Colorado Springs. It was literally in the park, and they loved them some Pastor Ric. They knew Ric could relate to them because of his past, and it brought hope for them to be able to kick their addictions and struggles. He often ministered at the Rescue Mission and Salvation Army, while making hospital and jail visits.
Ric was the founder of McDaniel & Associates, Inc. (DBA McDaniel Painting) from 2001-Present, where he managed Independent Painting Contractors for commercial and residential projects.
In April of 2007 Ric suffered a stroke from high blood pressure and was completely paralyzed on his right side. He couldn't talk or walk. Doctors wanted to keep him in the hospital for ten weeks, but I said he needs to get home because that's his Sanctuary. In four days they had him discharged and he was walking in two weeks, driving in four months and back to working. When people would come to visit us they couldn't understand what Ric was saying because of the affects of the stroke to his speech. But, when Ric pulled out his Bible and started to read he would be able to speak! The Word of God, the Bible, was Ric's speech therapy. There were still however, some physical limitations and disabilities that created challenges in his every day life. Fast forward and in March of 2018 Ric was diagnosed with tonsil cancer. He attempted treatment for a short period of time, but made the decision to stop treatment. He would say "it's a win-win situation; if I'm healed I win; if I die I win, because I'm with Jesus. In February of 2020 he was advised to have a tracheostomy, and then a week later a feeding tube. He came home on Hospice March 5th, when the first Covid-19 cases were confirmed in Colorado. So, not only were we dealing with home Hospice, but a pandemic too. Ric was strong and brave, yet gentle and kind. He was my little "M & M", lightly coated on the outside but soft and mushy on the inside! I will forever miss him, but I have the assurance that I will one day see him again when I too, go to Heaven. 2 Timothy 4:7 NKJ “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
Ric is survived by his siblings Patricia McDaniel-Hunter, William McDaniel, Holly Klaus, Lorna Jenschke, Lyle McDaniel, Sherry Lehnen, Brian McDaniel, and Audrey Rotindo. He is preceeded in death by his parents William Lyle McDaniel and Martha Patricia Holden.
