Newest Update

Journal entry by Ron Hohmann

All,

I want to update you all on Rick's health. Rick has been taking the new medicine for about 2 and half weeks. I do not think he is experiencing any of the side effects. He still has the diarrhea issue so it could be a side effect of the new drug or it could be the virus that has been causing his diarrhea. More than likely it is the virus still causing the issue.

His numbers for the most part are stable. He is not getting blood any longer. Most of the time he is getting fluids. His weight is an issue. A week ago his weight was 119 LBS. The Nurse Practitioner told him he needs to eat more or it will start causing him more problems than his cancer. It is too early to tell how well the new drug is working. He will know more in a few more weeks. So far it does not seem to be causing him any issues so that is a good thing.

His work status has changed.  St Michael's has been working with Rick to give him options to retire. He is now retired from St. Michael's. This will give him more time to enjoy Debbie and the family.

His prognosis has not changed yet. If he is not on any drugs his prognosis is 2 to 6 months left. If this new drug works he could have another 12 to 18 months left.

Keep the prayers coming. It is the best medicine he receives.
