Journal entry by Camille Gilliam

Just wanted to update everyone. Rick has been home two weeks and is so excited because his pic line was removed this morning. He is now tube free for just about the first time is 6 weeks. He is stronger and healthier and walking about 5000 steps a day. His oxygen levels are good but he has to work on his lung volume now. The only way to do that is to work out. He hopes to start pulmonary rehabilitation next week. I am headed back to Lubbock for a few days to run errands and see a few friends. We both miss home but Rick has to stay here for now. Rick's friend, Lonnie, has come to "babysit" for which I am incredibly grateful! We get to see Alex and his girlfriend, Cheyenne, on a regular basis which is great! We still can't get out much because covid is so rampant which could be dangerous for Rick. We watch a lot of TV so we are open to any recommendations you might have! Hope you are all doing well and staying cool during this incredidibly hot weather!
