Welcome to Rick Garnett's CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Rick was diagnosed with Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) in 2012.  After multiple years on oxygen, Rick started the process of becoming eligible for a lung transplant in the June of 2021. In October 2021 Rick and Kristy traveled to Phoenix, Arizona to finish the last rounds of tests in order to get the big "YES" we have all been waiting for.  

Once on the list,  we are hopeful the wait for surgery will be short. However, that will be followed by multiple months of rehab and recovery, all of which will take place in the Phoenix area.  Rick and Kristy will be permanently located in Arizona for the duration.

Back to Colorado!

Rick was officially released today and he and Kristy will head back to Colorado tomorrow morning! They hope to be home on Friday, April 8th and are excited to spend the Easter Holiday with the family. 

Rick and Kristy both enjoyed their time in Phoenix (and they didn't miss the Colorado cold!) but are so ready and anxious to be home in Colorado.

They will be back down in Arizona for a week+, in early May, for the next round of clinics and tests. A monthly visit will be required for the rest of the year so they will be making frequent trips back and forth. 

But, now their home-base has been officially re-established here in CO! We are all excited to have them home.
