Rick’s Story

Site created on April 17, 2019

Rick was found the afternoon of April 13th unresponsive at his home in Walla Walla, Washington.   He was taken to the local hospital in a self-induced coma where it was discovered that he had a brain bleed.  He was then flown to Kadlec Hospital in Richland, Washington where he underwent emergency brain surgery.

Rick had been experiencing terrible migraines the three weeks prior.  The day before he was found, he had been at a local urgent care center - his discharge instructions indicate that he had been diagnosed with Acute frontal sinusitis and should continue to take his medication.  He went to bed early on Friday night and was found roughly 18 hours later.

We are grateful to his best friend Valarie for being concerned when he didn't respond to calls on Saturday.  If she hadn't came to the house to check on Rick, he likely would not be with us today.
