Rick’s Story

Site created on November 18, 2021

To all of our family and friends,
We have decided to share just a bit of our journey through Caring Bridge. Back in September, Rick was diagnosed with bladder cancer. We were surprised and caught totally off guard when we were told that there are many variants including sarcomatoid and squamous cells. The sarcomatoid variants are very rare and quite aggressive. Our doctor here sent us to Seattle and Rick ended up in a clinical trial involving doctors from UW Medicine and SCCA. Unfortunately, a LONG list of setbacks took place and the trial was off the list.

We are now back in Yakima hopeful and prayerful that infusions can help ease the pain and keep the tumor growth at a minimum. Rick's sense of humor, his even-keel personality and his faith and family have kept him grounded. As time goes on, we hope you will visit this site and share stories, photos, words of wisdom, scripture and peace.... Always peace, and hope for a little miracle from above.

For any of you looking for Rick’s Obituary it seems there was a problem in getting it published in the E-edition of the Yakima Herald.  It is apparently published in the Sunday printed edition and is also available online at brooksidefuneral.com. Not sure what happened, but he should be smiling along with you as you are reading it wherever and whenever you should find it❤️
