Journal entry by Jeanna Roberts

Well done my good and faithful servant.  That's what my dad heard last night as he went into the arms of Jesus.  It is so upsetting and so hard to believe.  My dad was a healthy hardworking man right up to the day he went into the hospital.  I thought we had so many more years to enjoy being with him.  We thought he was going to beat Covid, he fought so hard in the hospital for 27 days.  It was the strokes caused by Covid those last few days that his body couldn't recover from.  Most of you know he spent most of his days helping folks at OKC Compassion and being the hands and feet of Jesus every day.  When he wasn't doing that he was watching his grand kids play in the yard, sitting on the back porch, feeding the birds, watering the flowers or taking a walk around the neighborhood.  We are thankful for each of you who prayed for him.  We were able to be with him last night and he seemed so at peace, he was ready to meet his maker.  Of course he was, he knew what he had to look forward to.  We played recordings for him last night from his sweet grand kids and read him Psalm 23:4-6.  Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.  You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.  Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

My dad often talked of being a peacemaker, so I will always keep Matthew 5:9 close to my heart.  Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.  He wanted everyone to be at peace and to be kind to one another.  This is definitely they way he lived his life and I will strive to be more like him in this way every day.

We would love to read your comments below if you have something to share about my dad.  And we promise to update you soon on the plans to celebrate his life.

I will leave you with a few verses.
Psalm 116:15 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.
Psalm 34:18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted.  He saves those whose spirits have been crushed.
Hebrews 11:16 Instead, they were longing for a better country--a heavenly one.  Therfore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.
