Adjusting to our New Normal

Rick is doing exceptionally well with his recovery. 🤕 He is such a strong and positive inspiration to me personally and to our family. ❤️

I have mandated a strict bedtime of 10:00pm every night. Rick does not fight me on this either. He is sleeping anywhere from 8-10 hours each night along side occasional naps throughout the day. We all know one of the keys to a good recovery is REST & SLEEP.  The kids and I are making sure he has plenty of both!

Each day Rick has a plethora of medications to take. I created a colorful spreadsheet 🙃 to keep track and make sure he is taking exactly what the doctors have ordered. The biggest hurdle for us is learning how to administer the incredibly strong antibiotic each day through his Picc Line. It’s a process for sure but manageable with nursing support once a week. We flush the line with 10 mL of saline, administer 20 mL of the antibiotic (Ceftriaxone) followed by another flush and then Heparin to make sure the line doesn’t clog. We call the Heparin the human Drano. 😂 😆 🤣

Rick is slowly (actually not so slowly 🤔) engaging in work again. He loves his job! A special thank you goes out to all of Rick’s work family. The support you have shown my husband during this time is incredible. He is humbled beyond belief! Friends and family are stuck with us, but you all have shown him so much unconditional love. Thank you Seat Team & others @ Ford Motor Company! 🤗

We are getting back to our new daily normal and thanking God every step of the way! 😇🙏🏻❤️
