Richard’s Story

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Dad suffered a fall, causing significant trauma to his head and face. This has resulted in significant brain damage, and Dad is currently in a medically induced coma while he rests and recovers. We won’t know the extent of the damage until he comes out of sedation. Though he is being assisted with breathing machines, fortunately Dad is able to breathe a bit on his own. He has movement in his arms and legs.   Communication is difficult because of the heavy sedation, but he has not been able to respond to commands. 


We have been warned by the doctors that this will undoubtedly be a very long  ordeal. Our family is so comforted by the love,  support and prayers by all of our loved ones.  Us Astoreca’s are a strong family with love that runs so deep.  We will face this together with our strong faith, courage and grace. Please keep the prayers coming. It means the world to us!
