Journal entry by Grace Lopez

Jan 12-18th. Where do we start. Ricardo is doing great he still has a positive attitude. So far no problems with the chemo. I wake him up early so that we can start our day. I'm thankful that Rey takes the late night shift for me. I get him up about 6:30 and we start our day. Ricardo doesn't really care to wake up early in the morning. He said he would like to sleep in but he knows he has to many visitors. I just laugh and he tells me okay Sergeant Grace lets get on with our day. With this big smile on his face. We are busy from 8:30 until 4:30. Ricardo does a great job with his therapy. I really don't think he likes it when the show me new things that we should work on. Because I do enforce them as he tells the therapist with this big smile. I also like it when I have a back up (Rey) that helps with the exercise. Ricardo left foot is starting to move more and more as the days go by. Lisa the PT has him putting more weight on his left side when he is in the Sara Stedy. Ricardo also has exercises to do in bed with his left arm. The Dr. said that in order for us to see any movement on his left side it would start with his left foot and move up his body. So very excited that his left foot is moving and that the messages are being sent to his brain. Adrian came up on Saturday and will be staying until the 23rd. Ricardo is excited because someone else will be cooking good food for him. So we really didn't do to much for the weekend.

Jan 19-25 Ricardo is excited to be getting his recliner on Tuesday. Adrian & Rey will be picking that up. Ricardo has spent time with Adrian so not to much to report. I think Adrian was a little surprised to see all the help we are getting for Ricardo and the support. Lab work came in and everything ok. Ask the Dr. if Ricardo could go out and about more due to Sergeant Grace not letting him out to much. Like I explained to him that I would like it if he don't get sick. Adrian was able to spend some alone time with Ricardo and has taken him to one of his radiation treatment. Ricardo has 9 more radiation & chemo treatments. So radiation and chemo will end on Feb 6th. Ricardo will have an MRI done on the 25 of Feb. We will also be getting result at 2:00 the same day. Than we will be starting 4 hour of outpatient rehab. Hoping to have this done at Mercy. The Dr. did say he could see Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. & that he could go out in public for a bit. Ricardo Jr. gave me a break this weekend. I was able to spend some time with the Grandkids while Jr. took his Dad to see Star Wars & Bad Boys. Ricardo Sr. had a great time. Ricardo Sr. went to church and was very happy to see everyone. Gregg & Michelle gave him a knit hat that was Norte Dame he absolutely very excited about his knit hat. Ricardo visit with the Father, and another friends at church. Ricardo was excited with all the support he received. I'm getting a little jealous because Jr. takes his Dad out and they have a great time with each other, and I'm the Sergeant. I will say I need to relax a little. Sr. was able to sit in his recliner and recline. He loved it because he can sit somewhere else other than his wheelchair. Ricardo also said if anyone would like to visit he is up for that on the weekend, but not early. He would like to sleep in. LOL!!! Thank you all for your prayers. Please continue to pray because Ricardo said that they have been helping.
