Thank you for posting this update, Leon. You and your family have been in my prayers for the past several months. Your mom and I became good friends when she was first diagnosed with the lung cancer.
I’m so thankful for the wonderful bond we shared through our cancer journies. As your mom went deeper and deeper into her treatment, we talked often, and texted just as frequently.
Watching her go through her treatment with such openness, authenticity, and grace had a tremendous impact on my life. I miss her so much, but rejoice in spite of the deep sense of loss that she is with the Lord, and in the company of family and friends. Your mom was an amazing woman. Love ya, brother.
Renae and I met when I gave her tips from the job of switchboard operator that I was leaving at Insight for Living in Anaheim...and that she was starting in Texas. We immediately connected and the friendship continued as we made plans to finally meet in San Diego where Herb was attending a business meeting. I remember how excited we both were to finally “put a face with the voice!”
Whenever I think of my Renae I will remember her on going strength even after her dear Herb passed on and how she always kept busy with all of her many interests. But most notable and more important than anything was her faith and how she shared it with others and how she lived her faith in the Lord. When my brother was unexpectedly taken to Heaven, Renae always asked how i was doing and took such an interest in my well being. She not only left me with sweet memories of our friendship but just one month before her passing, she mailed me a handmade heart with an inscription in that beautiful handwriting of hers. I will cherish that until the day when we will see each other face-to-face in our Heavenly Home. I love you, Renae...(plus you will get many extra stones in your crown for raising such an amazing son in Leon!)
