Ray’s Story

Site created on January 9, 2019

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.  Nov. 18 Ray saw a Dr. Adam Will at Parkview First Care walk-in clinic for a nodule on his face near his left ear that had just appeared. Wow was Dr. Will on top of things! He ordered an ultrasound, didn’t like the looks of it. Then a CT, chest X-ray , PET scan and arranged an appointment family Dr. And with ENT Associates, Dr. Kaiser.  Dr. Kaiser performed surgery Dec. 18 to remove squamous cell cancer of the parotid gland and neck resection, 62 lymph nodes 4 of which were positive.  He recovered nicely.  Port placement and stomach tube placement followed. Parkview Cancer Institute offered chemo and radiation. Second opinion at Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Koyfman offered more precise radiation and immunotherapy drug,  Keytruda, building up the immune system which as we age fails a bit in it’s capacity to fight off these nasty little cells  who live in and on all of us.  Dr. Koyfman only deals with head and neck cancers and with Dr. Geiger is heading a research study specifically Keytruda’s efficacy in cures  of squamous cell cancer of the head and neck. It has been very successful in melanoma cures.
Parkview  was most helpful in getting all records  to CC in an expedient manner.  That’s our story.  We are most appreciative of all the prayers and concern.  We feel THE LOVE ❤️ 🙏

Journal entry by Ray Ohlman

We are ecstatic with the CT results from Cleveland Clinic showing NO CANCER in head, neck or chest (lungs). The power of your prayers is apparent and we are most grateful for them and your love and support!  Ray will be checked every three months with follow up CT’s, blood work and evaluations. He feels good, looks good, playing golf (when it’s not Raining ☔️ ). We’ll take a little rain since we got that beautiful ‘rainbow’ at CC .......
……… God’s promise that He is ALWAYS with us!!
