So it appears that folk are still talking about our surgeries. I had crossed that little escapade off my list of things to occupy my thought, but apparently not you all. Anyway, much is made of my back pain, but let's just stipulate that there are doubtless millions of folk who may wish they had my problems. Fortunately, I seem to be the lucky one again. Pain has given way to simple muscle fatigue. I just didn't move for around 5 weeks, and the muscles supporting my back went on holidays. But as usual, to see me walking out in public you'd think there was nothing wrong with me. That's the way I look at it anyway. I used to say I was a fast healer (ala Steven King), but the current evidence indicates that my body takes its own sweet time to rebuild. Oh well, thankfully I have the time!

But seriously, everything is GOOD. Moved garage items from our Ashland home to our new home in Medford today, will move most of the household items tomorrow. TO OUR BRAND NEW HOUSE THAT LAURA BUILT FOR MY RETIREMENT! What's to complain about? The anticipation until we actually stay overnight there is killing me - perhaps in 3 days? (She did a great job on it: most beautiful cabinets and millwork we've ever done, gorgeous granite counters, wonderful hardwood floors), You all will just have to come visit when we can do so again - SOON?

Since Laura wanted me to retire, I had to do some serious thinking. I'd never thought of "not working." It's all I've ever done, all I know. But to help occuply my future time, I've managed to wrap my brain around a new endeavor. I'm working on earning my chef's apron. I purchased an online cooking course that I love, and I'm working my way through some of the myriad of dishes available. I so appreciate You-tube and all the folk who have shared their love of cooking with all of us. (But since I'm usually watching on my big TV, there is no Like and Subscribe buttons to push). I so get the content for free, and always feel a little bit guilty about that. Someone is going to a lot of effort with their video work, and I certainly appreciate that. Later, I'm going to call it a day. Love to all.

P.S. Laura busted me for omiting Dustin from my comment above. Yes, Laura did make all the financial arrangements, deal with supply chain complications, etc. However, Dustin ran the actual construction together with our "team" of subcontractors. Dustin has taken over from me, and by now knows a great deal more than I do about home building. We're so lucky to have him in the building company. I expect he will assume full control including financial matters within the next year, while Laura and I are preparing to travel.
