Journal entry by Tracy Callahan

Thank you for so many of you reaching out asking about my Mom and Dad. My Dad was discharged from Sarasota Memorial on Saturday with two wound vacs and IVs after surgery last week to clean out his three wounds on his backside.

My Mom and Dad have been through so much but it seems as though they are faced with another big challenge: hurricane Ian. I’ve been checking in with my parents hourly and they are scared but hanging in there. Their house is new, not close to the water. They have all of their storm shutters up thanks to helpful neighbors. They have a small generator, though they haven’t lost power yet. The threat of extended power loss is worrisome. The nurses came yesterday to disconnect everything in anticipation of the storm. He is weak but walking short distances in the house and my Mom is taking great care of him ❤️.

At this point we are taking things hour by hour. Please keep them in your thoughts. I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that my anxiety level is through the roof but unfortunately there isn’t much we can do but wait and keep checking on them.
