Journal entry by Heather Markwalter

Hello everyone,

This past week has been eventful in a wonderful way! Randy continues to heal on schedule. His last drain tube was taken out, on Tuesday about 50 staples were removed from his stomach (three weeks after surgery), and steri-strips were placed that will last for three days. The incision is healing well.

Randy has trouble sleeping through the night and needs to nap throughout much of the day. He has been trying to walk a little most days. Some days he feels better than others. He expressed some concern about the lack of energy at one of the Dr. appts, and the Dr. joked "Yeah, you had a transplant!"

Paul rented a dream house right on the beach for us and came over with PJ to spend a long Mother's Day weekend together. The weather, views, and company was perfect! It even had an elevator so Randy could access each of the 3 floors! Will share pics with this post. Heather tried to take a couple of hours of vacation each day we were together at the beach house. We ordered takeout every night and loved every minute of it! We sure needed and enjoyed our family time!

There have been several side effects Randy is adjusting to, and medication and diet changes that happen at each Dr. appt. This is all normal, and is the reason to remain here in Seattle to have labs reviewed on a regular basis.

We appreciate family, friends and neighbors who are helping watch over our properties, keeping the prayers and good thoughts coming our way.  Thank you!
