Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Hi, I’m Pat Dusek, Randy’s mother.

Greg and I came to Sioux Falls, South Dakota Tuesday,
June 11,, 2019. We came to accompany our son to a heart procedure he was having on June 12, 2019. It was a success and he felt quite well. The following day we did a few minor errands and he was planning on returning to work on Thursday . I even made reservations for dinner for  that evening.

About 3:30 that afternoon, June 13, 2019, he fell in the kitchen. I attempted CPR while Greg called 911. The ambulance and many others came to help. He was transported to Sanford Hospital and we have been here ever since. He has been unresponsive ever since except for a few signs of recognition.

So faith, hope, love remain, these three; but the greatest of these is love. 1Corinthian 13:13

Our hearts are filled with humility and appreciation for our many good friends and family who comforted us during our recent sadness. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Sioux Falls South Dakota
To Mike, Cindy, and Cecily who worked magic in putting together a Memorial service for Randy that will always be one of our fondest memories. They met on Sunday night and by Tuesday evening over 200 of you showed up to honor our son.

The Memorial  service was held at Randy’s Church -Saint Katharine Drexel.  It started with Mass celebrated by Father Gregory  Tschakert assisted by Deacon Denny Seiner. It was a most spiritual Mass and the homily was outstanding. Following that,  we listened to several speakers who made us aware of what Randy had been doing while working with different organizations , his church and his job. We thank you for all the kind words spoken that night. Thank you to first Premier Bank/Premier Bankcard  for all their involvement. We were blessed that Steve and Suellen, Jeff, and Cecil - Greg‘s brother from Winnipeg could join us. Our collective grief was a visible testament to what Randy meant to each one of us.

We graciously accepted all of the gifts, food, visits, meals and support offered by the Sioux Falls community. You are unbelievably generous and kind. We will never be strangers in Sioux Falls again! All of the memorials offered by you have been directed to the Hope Manor Foundation. I’m sure Randy would have endorsed this idea.

I would like to apologize for not responding individually to all the cards and memorials. I will do my best to track down addresses but know that even if you don’t get a personal thank you from me I will remember you in prayer.

Grafton North Dakota
To all  our friends and family who were six hours away from us while we were on this roller coaster journey with Randy. We felt your prayers and thank you sincerely for all the phone calls, texts, and cards. Thanks to Jeff and Brenda, Steve and Suellen, Nick and Brie along with Agnes and George, Katie (Randy‘s beloved Goddaughter), Caleb, and Abby for all the visits and everything else you have managed to do for us.

Thank you to the people who came to the funeral in Grafton,  North Dakota. Thank you to our family (named above) and to Zach (Randy‘s beloved Godson).. A Saturday in the summer does not find too many people in Grafton but a lot of you stuck around.
We thank you!

We had a visitation at St. John the Evangelist CatholicChurch  from 10 to 11 and Mass followed with Father Jeff Eppler concelbrating with Fr. Bernie Schneider assisted by Deacon Mike Grzadzielewski. We were led to the burial at St. John’s Cemetery by  a police escort. We returned to the church dining hall for lunch served by two funeral groups. We thank all of you.

We are all blessed to have loved Randy and been loved by him.

Please continue to pray for us as we heal and move forward without him.
