Rachel’s Story

Site created on July 26, 2018

In March 2015, I had my left ovary removed due to a giant cyst that was approximately 2.5 liters. Inside that cyst there was a tumor that turned out to be cancer. At 22 years old I was having to embrace that truth that my life would forever been changed. I met with a fertility doctor the same year but, due to the cost, I decided to wait to get my eggs frozen.

My world was again rocked in June 2018, when it was discovered that another mass was attached to my right ovary.

Journal entry by Rachel Wesley

Since my eggs were retrieved and successfully frozen, my gynecological oncologist scheduled my surgery to have the tumor removed.

Today is the day after my surgery, and the amazing medical team was able to removed the cancerous tumor and the affected areas that were touching the tumor.

Praise God that they were able to complete the surgery without having to completely remove the ovary. They only took enough of the organ to ensure complete removal of the cancerous tissues. Thank you to everyone for your prayers throughout this - it means more than you could possibly know!
