Rachel Kathryn’s Story

Site created on March 20, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

On Saturday we felt something on Rachel's side that concerned us. We took her to the emergency to be sure she was okay and the doctors discovered a large tumor in her kidney. After running tests, it was determined to be cancerous and she was admitted immediately and surgery scheduled for Tuesday - March 20th.

The surgery was successful and doctors are optimistic that all traces of cancer have been removed.

We appreciate all questions about Rachel be directed to this site so we can update all friends & family simultaneously.

Journal entry by Laura Pinho

Rachel has finished her 9th week of treatment and she's doing great. She has lost some hair but other than that has had no side effects. So far all the tests have come back with great results. We only have 5 more treatments in total. In two weeks the dosage drops back to only once every three weeks and will be complete by the end of August.

Although Rachel likes her doctor and the staff at Kaiser Permante she is looking forward to taking a break from hospital visits. Rachel did make friends with a young girl named Matilda. Matilda has just completed her treatment and is going back with her family to the south of France. We wish her well and pray that she too has a healthy and speedy recovery.

Thanks everybody!
